Historic Restoration
August, 2005 -
The building was constructed circa. 1790 as a dairy barn, and first
converted to use as a residence in the 1950's. It had fallen in to a state of
extreme disrepair and had been abandoned by the former owner and vacant for
about 20 years.
The property was purchased by a Swiss businessman who wanted to restore the
building, with the theme "new meets old".
Decker Restoration
began the project in early 2004 with the planning and permitting stages. The
building is located in an environmentally protected area and the permitting
process was lengthy and involved the New York State Department of Environmental
Conversation.
